Nice snowfall today, beginning last night. Mondays are not a day I normally work in Chester, so I was here, trying to catch up on laundry and on the Christmas Tree Skirt I am still working on. (Each time I sit down to work on that thing, I think, "This will be the day that I finish!" No such luck yet.... hopefully it actually will be complete before Christmas!)
The snow was light and peaceful. We had maybe two inches of accumulation. I was remembering my first winter in Jackson, WY-- it literally snowed EVERY DAY that winter! That was the year I learned to ski and snowshoe. Now, if I want to do either of those activities, I'll have to hope for a lot of snow (which is also good for the crops and the land), or drive a few hours to a ski hill. They tell me we just don't get as much snow around here, and what we do get, the wind blows into drifts. I was able to head outside for a short walk this afternoon, accompanied by Harvey. Photos are below!

This is the north wall of the Smiley barn. Bales lined up to feed the heifer calves, which winter in our lot. |

A lot of the carigana trees looked like they had been gnawed on. Deer, perhaps?
