I'm really excited for Christmas this year for a few reasons. I'm really happy and thankful to spend Christmas at our house in the country this year. We've more or less fallen into a routine with my family of alternating years for who gets to travel for Christmas. Last year, Jeff and I went to Iowa and this year, they're coming here. I like to travel and I like to go home to Iowa, of course, but I also love to be at my own home in Montana.
I'm also very joyful to see and spend time with our month-old new nephew, Brandon, who's here for Christmas with his parents (duh!). It is so much fun to watch how much he is changing literally every day (and I don't just mean diapers!). He is so much more alert than he was when we saw him at Thanksgiving. He looks around more and really observes his surroundings. Yesterday I held him for quite a while and he just stared at me like he was trying to memorize my face. Just perfect. He also really loves looking at the Christmas tree lights. :) He is so much fun to be around, and I feel so thankful to be able to share his first Christmas with him.
Today, Jeff and I spent a good portion of the day cleaning the everloving bejeezes out of our house. It's an old farm house in the country and it gets dirty. It was so wonderful to have Jeff's help, even though I'm sure there were things he would have rather been doing. Same with me, truth be told. Does anyone actually enjoy cleaning? Bleh.
Since it is approaching Christmas, however, I wanted to take a break from cleaning and take a moment to post some photos of what we have done to get ready for Christmas so far. Hopefully, you'll find these enjoyable, entertaining, and/or they'll get you in the Christmas spirit one way or another.
We also made some of those Borax crystal Christmas ornaments at the elementary. The kids LOVED how these turned out! |
Today, I wrapped this present. I think it's quite delightful! |
This is our Christmas tree. It's starting to fill in with presents. |
An old handmade ornament featuring Jeff's photo from when he was a kid. One of my favorites on our tree! What a cutie! |
Since it's not fair to post a kid photo of Jeff and not one of me, here's my little kid photo. |
And here we are together! From the year we were married. :) |
Merry Christmas! I love being home for Christmas especially now that I have kids, traveling is such a pain with kids!
ReplyDeleteTraveling is a pain even without kids, so I can imagine it's only more stressful when you add a couple little ones to the mix! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Merry Christmas to you, too! :)
