With the horse being white, she may have been camouflaged in the snow. She also had the nickname of Pegasus, from one of the neighborhood kids. Perhaps "Pegasus" flew away on her steady, white wings? Clearly, she was special enough that the owners were worried about her safety and wanted her back. I would be despondent if my pet was lost, that's for sure.
As we drove back through town later that evening, we noticed the lost-and-found sign had been taken down. Did this mean the horse had returned safely home? Our brother-in-law confirmed that yes indeed the horse was home and the sign had been taken down. As he said, Rudyard is back to being a One Horse Town yet again.
