Jeff and I hit the Bulls of the Big Sky bull sale in Billings this past Monday. We had attended the sale two years ago together, in its first year as an event. Last year we went to a different sale, and this year brought us back to Billings. For one reason or another, we have had bad luck with bulls in the past couple years, so again, we were needing a new bull. We ended up buying two, which will be used between our cows and Tom's herd. I took some photos and video. I'll only be posting the video in this post, however, and hoping to post some of the photos as well as some more info about our fun weekend within the next few days.
The videos are similar, both taken early in the sale. The first one is a better example of the auctioneer's skill and way with words, the second is a better example of what exactly is happening.
If you can figure out what the auctioneer is saying, you're doing good.
Now, watch the guys working the gates for the animals to come in and out, and watch the three guys taking the bids, and see more of the process.
