I am intrigued, however. I seriously doubt that any of my other high school classmates are now living a life similar to my own. There were very few if any students in my school who were farm kids. I can't think of anyone. Not a single person. My classmates were by and large daughters and sons of college grads who worked in the business world. Several were children of professors and researchers at Iowa State. The presence of a major university in town combined with the outspoken, left-winged tendency of many of the teachers at our school leant a decidedly liberal outlook to the class of 2002. I have no doubt that some of my classmates are now hippie organic farmers in places like southwestern Wisconsin, raising small-batch garden crops to sell to the local grocery co-op. But I would be shocked if anyone else has married a tough breed farmer or rancher.
I'm not trying to say that my life is superior to anyone else's, but on the other hand, I am proud of the life I have, the place where I live, and the man I am married to. Why shouldn't I stand behind the choices I have made?
They say the high school reunion is a dieing bit of history. The friends you want to keep in touch with are now on your social media page. There really is no need to catch up with the people you really care about. Though if you want to see how the people you hated have gone to hell and are living a misserable life at a dead in job and are locked into the marriage from hell , go .
