Busy Fall

This past summer was very busy.  Summer, I have been told, is the busiest season on a farm.  I arrived here in the north country in June.  We got married, then it was the beginning of hay season. Then we went to another wedding in Colorado, and then it was really hay season. Then it was harvest and people said that fall would be better- that it would be less busy.

Well.  So far, fall has been extremely busy.  If you need proof of the busy schedule we have kept lately, just look at how few blog posts there have been recently.  Every weekend we are not in Bozeman for a Bobcat football game, we are hosting hunters at our house.  We have been gone or busy every weekend since I have lived here, I'm fairly certain. And what about all those projects that are supposedly "Fall Projects"?  When is there time for those?  I haven't seen it yet.

I feel like I am as busy as I ever had been before I moved, and now I'm only working part-time.  It is a lot of work keeping up a home, I am discovering, and helping out where possible on the farm. Not to mention hosting visitors.  And we don't even have kids!

Believe me, I'm not complaining here at all.  Just trying to note my own surprise at how busy this fall has been, despite assurances from some that it would be slower than summer.  Winter, I suspect, will truly be slower.  I'll have to let you know in January or February how things are going.  For now, I better get back to work.

At my bridal shower on the Hi-Line, guests were asked to give the bride advice for her new married life.  One person stated, "There's always something to do on a farm."  Guess I better get back to it!
