If you haven't heard of it, you might want to stop reading this blog post right now because Sporcle is extremely addicting and the biggest timesuck on the internet since Facebook. If you keep reading, you'll only be intrigued and you'll click on over to www.sporcle.com and pretty soon it'll be tomorrow and you'll still be sitting in front of your glowing computer screen agonizing over why you can't remember who directed a 1984 movie about a group of misfit kids finding treasure in a pirate ship in Oregon (Goonies, Christopher Columbus. You're welcome).
Sporcle is a website made entirely of quizzes. There are quizzes on every topic imaginable, in every format you can think of. In my house, spare fifteen minute (or longer than 15 minutes. let's be honest.) chunks of time might be spent quizzing oneself on Sporcle. Quizzes like "Name the top 50 largest countries by population density," or "Movie title by poster," or "Name the 80s bands by the songs that made them famous," or "Football mascots logic puzzle..." Or... Anything you can think of, there's probably a quiz about it on Sporcle. I justify spending time on Sporcle by telling myself it's like Lumosity, only free, and I'm preventing dementia in my future self by exercising my brain now. Or something.
Since this is sometimes an Ag blog, I thought I'd put the challenge out to my dear readers to take some of the cattle-related quizzes. You can actually learn quite a bit from revealing the answers after you've completed the quiz. Below the photo, I've listed a few of my favorites.
U.S. Cattle Population. Name the top 20 cattle states in the U.S. Hint: Montana is one of them!
World Cattle Population. Same thing as previous, only world-wide.
Old West Showdown Logic Puzzle. This one is definitely my favorite! I really like logic puzzles and the writing is silly and fun in this one. Pretty excellent!
Here's a pop quiz-- What type of cattle do we raise on our farm?! |
