Weekly Review May 29-June 4

Here's another weekly review; find out how the week went in fitness, farm, and life!
Evening walk.
Fitness
I really ramped up my workouts this past week, increasing biking and brick workouts and fitting in a swim. I am also doing a short RunnersLoveYoga challenge geared toward hamstrings through Instagram and it's been good to do a little extra yoga daily along with the increased biking and running mileage.

Here's how my week went:

Sunday- First great Brick workout of Triathlon Training! 10.4 mile bike and 2.5 mile run. I did this together with Jeff. It was a lot of fun, but definitely hard work!
Monday- 35 minutes of core and strength work and 20 minutes of yoga
Side planks!!!
Tuesday- 3.1 mile run
Wednesday- 1200 yards of lap swimming! yay! Felt SOOOO GOOD to be in the pool!
Thursday- 6.3 mile run, easy pace.
Friday- 11.8 mile bike, 1 mile walk
Saturday- 4 mile run-- Hills! and 25 minutes yoga. Trying to get some tough hills in to work up to Governor's Cup, as it's a hilly course.
Harvey stayed right by my side on the hilly 4-mile run.

Farm
Lots of spraying happening on our farm right now. We have been spraying our fallow ground (land that is not currently seeded to crop) and soon will be transitioning to spraying crop. I have hardly ever written about spraying except to say that we do spray, so I feel like it's necessary to explain a bit about what and why we are spraying. We spray herbicides- so, to kill weeds. We are not spraying insecticides or pesticides. We don't spray our organic ground, because then it wouldn't be organic. Spraying takes a lot of water to mix with whatever herbicide we're using. So, a lot of time is spent filling big tanks with water and hauling the water out to fields. I help with this a little at times.
That's a tank of water on the trailer that the pickup is pulling. Jeff is using a pump to transfer water from the tank on the trailer into the tank on the sprayer. The sprayer is pulled by the tractor.
Life
It was my first week of summer break this past week. You may think that it would have been easy to lounge around and do nothing, basking in the glory of having a summer break from my job. While it is nice to have a change of scenery from my job, I actually would argue that I physically worked harder than I do during the school year. One of the major tasks has been working on getting my house clean and under control after the busy track season/end of the school year. Also, being a farm, we have a very large yard and garden which requires a lot of work and maintenance. I finished planting the garden this week, so now it's time to work out a watering schedule. I also did a lot of mowing and yard work- neverending summer activities.

This past Friday we also got to attend a nice awards presentation in the lovely town of Fort Benton. One of our Senators, Jon Tester, was presented with a Golden Triangle Award from National Farmers Union for service to agriculture and rural communities within the scope of his duties as a Senator. It was a really nice event organized by some dear friends of ours from Fort Benton. We visited with the Senator briefly, he was presented with his award, and then he spoke and took questions.

This upcoming weekend, Jeff and I travel to Helena to race in the Governor's Cup! I am running in the 10K and Jeff is doing the 5K. We had a great experience with this race last year, which you can read about in THIS POST, and we're really looking forward to racing it again.

Have a great week, everyone! I'll be back tomorrow with a Tri Tuesday post.
This is a view of Sage Creek, which runs through our land.
