Jeff and I are both signed up for the 10K at Governor's Cup, coming up in less than two weeks. We ran this race last year, too. I like that it is becoming a tradition for us. We also plan to run the Dawson's Run 5K, which is a local race in Joplin, on June 18.
Farm
As the ground continued to desaturate, Jeff was able to work on spraying and getting some things done in our fields. Our crops have emerged from the soil and are now hankering for some warm sun.
Also, my Aunt Jean sent me this --
Appropriate, after last week when I caught a metal gate with my face while we were working cows. I wrote a bit about that in my previous Weekly Review post. I'm sure I've broken more than one of those commandments.
Life
Track season officially came to an end over the weekend as we attended State in Missoula. We had eleven athletes from our team that qualified. They competed well and represented our school very well. This year, Class C was combined with Class AA at State and we enjoyed watching some very excellent performances from boys and girls from both classes at State. There were many Class and even All-Class records broken as the best athletes in Montana competed against one another. Commendable performances up and down the board.
A major highlight for me was watching Christina Aragon race. She was outstanding. I may never in my life witness another athlete as skilled at running as she is. She won all three distance races (800, 1600, 3200) commandingly. She is the fastest Prep runner in the nation in the 800 and is likely to be racing at the Olympic Trials later this summer in Eugene. She finished in 2:05 and change. The Olympic Standard is 2:03 and she's definitely chasing.
I took this photo at the start of the AA Girls 1600 race. That's Aragon on the right in the white jersey. |
All in all, it was a really great week! School is out for me for the summer, and I'm looking forward to getting a lot done at home, helping with farm stuff, and tackling my Triathlon training!
Busy lady, you are!
ReplyDeleteIt will slow down a bit now that school and track are over, but I'll be busier on the farm and at home instead! :)
DeleteStrong week!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome that a local athlete in Montana is so accomplished! Very impressive.
Yes! Impressive, indeed. I expect she'll have a strong future!
DeleteI love the all school relay idea! Great symbolism :)
ReplyDeleteI agree. It takes a little bit to get it set up and organized, but the kids really like it. It's becoming a tradition as part of our field day, for sure! :)
