While I was gone on my back-to-back vacations, spring arrived in full bloom at our house. Jeff and I planted some tulips last fall, and I was delighted to see that a few of them actually came up! Here's the post I did about planting them: http://prairieponderingsmt.blogspot.com/2011/09/tulips.html A few blooms of each of the three varieties graced the west side of our house for a few short weeks, bringing a little cheer and curb appeal. There wasn't even enough to cut a bouquet for the kitchen table, but a few are better than none, I think! Hopefully, there will be more next spring. Tulips are supposed to multiply on their own for a few years, right?
This photo shows each of the three varieties. I don't remember their names, but I think it's in the post from last fall, so if you're curious, click on the link in the previous paragraph.
This "double" variety was so beautiful. It looks like a peony!
Variegated blossom, variety #2.
Variety #3 was mostly white with pink streaks.
We also have a flowering tree of some sort on the south side of our house. Apple? Crabapple? I don't really know, but it was in full bloom-- very beautiful. The heifers are at pasture in our yard right now, too-- you can see one in the background.
Miniature irises along the west wall of the garage. Don't know if they're wild, or if a previous inhabitant of our home planted them some time ago. They looked great, though. Love the color.
