Sorry there hasn't been much action on the Prairie Ponderings blog over the past few days. I have been sick. It started Saturday night. Sunday I tried to take things easy, but Monday was worse and I think I was only awake for about a total of 2-3 hours. Tuesday I went to the doctor and found out I have a bad viral infection causing open sores on my tonsils and the back of my throat. Viral, of course, means there's no magic pill to make it go away.
So I have been arming myself with a regimen of ibuprofen, Emergen-C, Chloraseptic spray, probiotics, and plenty of fluids. I'm already starting to feel a little better.
On the farm, most of the harvesting is complete. There are a few patches of wheat left over here and there that weren't ripe on the first go-through that are being cut now. Next, we will turn our attention to fertilizing and seeding winter wheat, specifically on the land Jeff and I are farming with the new lease. We are thinking we will do mostly winter wheat here.
Furthering developments with the new lease will transpire on Friday as we spend much of a day in Havre meeting with FSA, Accountants, Bankers, and our Insurance guy. Very little farming is done on a cash basis anymore, so we will be determining what size of a loan to take out for our operating expenses, etc. I am very much learning as we go, but it's pretty interesting!
